"The Snake Pit" is an illustration, in my mind, that was supposed to be a form of homage to both Blade Runner and Indiana Jones. It didn’t really turn out that way - I originally wanted to have "The Snake Pit" in neon above it like the club sign in Blade Runner, but it wasn’t working for me. I couldn’t decide which one I preferred either! I have a few more of varying colours and backgrounds as well, but I figure these were the best of the bunch maybe? I spent so long on this yesterday that I thought my face and spine would explode. Not sure I am even done! Fussy, fussy…

We have our first 2 time THI3D THURSDAY Skateboard Design Contest winner. UK based artist, Rachael Smart, who also won the Space Invaders contest, designed the winning Street Art deck, “Bear Bones”. She describes the deck as being “right for skating itself. You are giving your all, showing everything you got - as well as breaking some bones to do what you love. The artwork is just done with uni pens and then coloured on Photoshop.” Rachael will be receiving this deck along with $100 and “Bear Bones” is now up at www.BoardPusher.com/THIRDTHURSDAY with a limited run of 10 decks available to you all. You can also see more of Rachael’s designs at rachaelsmartart.

"Do you like hurting other people?"… on your birthday… So it’s my boyfriend’s birthday soon, and he’s been playing quite a bit of Hotline Miami. So in combination of these wonderful things, I’ve done him a birthday card of a slightly tweaked version of some Hotline Miami game art I really love. Mainly to pay homage to the artwork and the game, as well as hoping he’ll get the reference! It’s very rushed - I’m hoping if I still have time I can change some of it around.
And now I am going to go listen to that soundtrack…Sun Araw - Deep Cover - yes please-o.

So for some reason, I had a crazy urge to paint today. I haven’t painted in years, and I really didn’t enjoy painting when I had to, so to have the urge is quite strange to me! I started to paint my boyfriend on the back of a Rice Krispies packet - because I have nothing to paint onto and the need was so great that I thought… What the hey! I took a quick picture of the start of the piece, but it became a complete mess after this and was scrapped. I thought I’d mark the event, though, because I doubt this will happen again for sometime… (back to the pens methinks!).

Quick Update!
I’ve been quite busy lately on the art front, one of which I can’t wait to post (when I am allowed) and some more work with http://banger-rally.co.uk which are still looking for rally teams if anyone is interested in racing to Nice for charity! Looks like a lot of fun, and the guys that have set up the charity are veterans at banger rallies, so would be happy to chat to anyone if they’re interested but not sure what it involves. There is always next year as well! (I would do it if I could drive!)
Just a quick note, however, to say there are a couple more illustrations, as well as more items to choose from on my Redbubble page http://www.redbubble.com/people/squishysquid including some fancy totes bags. Ey? Fancy.

In November, a wonderful, beautiful couple are getting married! Having been commissioned to do some wedding invite art a few months ago, I was so pleased to see it arrive in the post the other day, looking fantastic in a handmade card! So happy for both of them and I wish them a belated congratulations on their engagement! It’s going to be an awesome day, lesmouches!

Not too long ago, I created a banner for my friend’s blog. Anyone interested in books and poetry should probably check her out at http://www.brightstarbookworm.co.uk! She is currently doing an internship at Gladstone Library in Flintshire, blogging her adventures there at Hogwarts (as it may as well be Hogwarts by the looks of it!) So if you’re a book and Keats lover take a looks-y!
